Mike Brownlee joined The Daily Nonpareil in February of 2010 as the southwest Iowa reporter. He graduated with a degree in journalism from the University of Iowa in May of 2009.

Brownlee loves sports, especially baseball. He started in Playground league in third grade and plays in an old-man league to this day. He also plays softball and in the glorious Council Bluffs YMCA basketball league, where he once saw Kevin White hit a pull-up 3-pointer.

When he’s not complaining about a foul call or joking around in the dugout, Brownlee enjoys reading, watching Family Guy and spending time with his wife, Abrianna.
He enjoys sarcasm, is falling in love with advanced baseball stats and believes the designated hitter is a fine invention.
